The stick pin which is also often referred to as a tie or cravat pin, originated in the early 19th century as an essential accessory for wealthy gentlemen. It was used to fasten a scarf or cravat. Over time, it also gained popularity among women, who wore it on a lapel or to secure a scarf. Often times we now see that the decorative element of these stick pins converted in to pendants or charms.
